Course: Health, Physical Education, and Classroom Driver Education II (7405)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Health and Physical Education I (See enrollment criteria below)

Description: Students will be required to complete course work in Family Life Education, Health and Driver Education Classwork as well as meeting the objectives for the Physical Education component. This component, also called "Fitness" requires logs to be completed and signed by a fitness professional and either SCANNED or FAXED to your VHS instructor each marking period. Fitness hours must be varied and meet the required minimum hours. All fitness hours must be turned in by the deadline and completed during the session.

The Driver Education requirement ("classroom" NOT"behind the wheel") must be fulfilled through a certified driving school or course that is monitored by a Virginia Endorsed Driver Education Instructor.
Options available include:
- an online course through vadriveredu.org (VADETS) This is the only "online" option in VA for drivers education. It is not recommended by VHS and is not monitored by our staff. Use this option ONLY if you cannot attend the VHS DE described below.
- a face-to-face option for currently enrolled HPE II VHS@PWCS students. VHS teachers will instruct a six (6) day face-to-face drivers education course (fall and spring will be on Saturdays at Patriot HS and summer will be the M-F the week before midterms at two locations) Details will be in the course catalog available when students enroll and will be discussed at orientation.Registration is on-site on the first day of the drivers ed course. Cost: $100 payable by money order or cashiers check on the first day of the drivers ed course. **This is the preferred method for completing the drivers education requirement for the VHS course.THE DRIVERS EDUCATION PARENT MEETING (MANDATORY) WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH SESSION.
- SUMMER ONLY: PWCS Classroom Drivers Education course via the traditional summer school program (see base school counselor for enrollment) or a local Driving school.
There is a cost for the Driver Education component $100 for the face-to-face course and approximately $109 for VADETS. Tuition reduction is applied to the regular course to compensate for a portion of the drivers education tuition See Tuition
The Physical Education component must be completed in a gym or other athletic facility. Students will be required to obtain verification through logs signed by fitness professionals.Extracurricular sports will be considered for partial fulfillment of the physical curriculum component with instructor approval. The contract must be completed to enter into the HPE course and ALL fitness hours must be completed during the course session to receive credit.
