Message from the course instructor:
All of the Spanish units (Modules) are organized in the same way and have the same set of assignments. Each unit includes lessons on grammar, vocabulary, culture, and literature through activities of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Students begin a unit with grammar, then they progress onto the other topics, with grammar and vocabulary tied into the assignments. I also offer direct instruction in an online office, in which students can ask questions, review material, and chat in Spanish with me.
Oral sections - Students complete 2 speaking assignments in each Module, and there are oral components on the midterm and final exams. Students are required to have speakers and a microphone (or headset) in order to take the course. The software programs needed for the speaking are provided through the course, and they are free to download and install.
Textbook - There is no textbook for our Spanish course. However, all grammar topics that your student would learn, practice, and apply in the traditional classroom are included in the course. Additionally, I have incorporated the same set of vocabulary words and culture topics in the online course as students use in the PWCS schools for level 3 Spanish. This way, if a student chooses to take level 4 in the classroom, they will have had the same vocabulary lists and cultural sections.
