Orientation Information:
There are (2) two required orientations for VHS:

  1. The Program orientation is ONLINE and the link will be included in your enrollment confirmation email - sent to the student email after enrollment is confirmed. If you have previously completed the program orientation with 100% - let your VHS instructor know once the session begins. The goal of the program orientation is to introduce the student to VHS program policies and the learning management system (D2L/Brightspace).

The Program Orientation must be completed with 100% by September 9, 2019. Students use their 6 digit PWCS ID as the identifier and can work on the lesson over time or in one sitting. It takes approx. 2.5 hours.

  2. The Course orientation - Face-to-Face Orientation - VHS students (new or previous students) are required to attend the F2F Orientation on Monday, September 9th at Patriot HS.  The Orientation Schedule is posted below.  Please locate your course and teacher.  There will be two sessions; Session 1 will be 5:00pm - 6:45pm and Session 2 will be 6:45pm - 8:30pm.  All sessions begin in the Auditorium.  Students will be released to their designated classrooms after the Introduction session.

If a student cannot attend the course orientation in person they must login on that day and complete the assignments from home and attend a virtual classroom live lesson session on the date/time posted by their instructor.

Important Session Dates:

2nd MP (Conclusion of session) - January 17th

All students enrolled in an SOL course will take their SOL at their base school.  Please contact your base school counselor and/or testing coordinator for more information.

Final Exams
Final exams will be given on January 16th at your instructor's base school.  January 17th will be the final exam make up day.

PHOTO ID REQUIRED for all exams - can be school ID, drivers license, walkers ID, passport, etc...anything with a recent photo and student name.

November 27th - 29th - Thanksgiving
December 23rd - January 3rd - Winter Break

All HPE students are issued a Polar OH1 heart rate monitor to be used during the session and returned at the final exam.  All physical fitness hours are earned using the OH1.

Any student enrolled in HPE I or HPE II must attend one of two "fitness nights."  This meeting is to issue the heart rate monitor and provide required training on how to use it correctly. Students will not be allowed to take either HPE I or II unless they attend one of these meetings. This does not replace orientation. Students must be fully enrolled to attend.
Options - attend any one of these: (note: if you are in the special OPHS sections for pre-gov school you will have a separate fitness night announced by your course instructor)

The fall fitness nights will be
September 4th at Woodbridge HS 5:30pm - 7:00pm
September 5th at Patriot HS 5:30pm - 7:00pm
September 5th at Battlefield HS - 5:30pm - 7:00pm

Students need to come dressed to workout and bring their smart phone with the Polar Beat app already installed.**

VISIT the HPE webpage before enrolling in HPE and attending a fitness night.

HPE II Drivers Education Information

Classroom drivers education is a required component of the HPE II credit.  VHS students have two options to complete this requirement:

  1. VHS Saturday Option: We highly recommend students take the classroom drivers education component in person with our instructor (see dates below).  There is no charge/fee for this option.
  2. VADETS online option: students can take the course online with VADETS.  Registration is on their website. We have no control over the quality or responsiveness of non-VHS drivers education courses. Students in the VADETS course must complete the final exam and receive their DEC1 card at least two weeks before the end of the VHS session.  Parents must find a proctor for that exam.

Option 1 details: VHS Drivers Education Saturday Sessions with VHS instructor. Absences are not permitted. Patriot High School - room 1312 enter via door 20. Please be on time as doors will be locked for entry once the session begins. In case of inclement weather, the instructor(s) will send you a Remind link sign up so you will receive text notifications of changes:
